Sam Low: Raising Islands

Raising Islands is a term that Hokulea canoe voyagers use to describe chicken-skin moments during a long sea journey when islands appear to rise out of the distant horizon. It’s also the name of the second part of my conversation with Sam Low on Long Story Short. The Connecticut-raised, part-Hawaiian voyager recalls learning and discerning the fears and dreams of his cousin, master navigator Nainoa Thompson, and others as they crewed the Hokulea.

Long Story Short with Leslie Wilcox is a production of PBS Hawaii.
